>Tractor Paint Over Silverplate

>Hi Everyone!

Okay, who has a Tractor Supply Company in the ‘hood? Seriously, this is right up near Walmart in my list of favorite stores now (and I haven’t been to Walmart in forever). I can find paint, rabbit food, doggie cookies and so much more, all under one roof.
So, I was recently shopping the paint at TSC and I found Tractor Implement paint. Huh?? Tractor Paint? NO WAY! They even had cool color names line International Harvester and John Deere Green. I thought that paint designed to cover a tractor would be just dandy for my very unimpressive silverplate vase. I love silverplate but this one wasn’t name brand and it didn’t have any tarnish on it.  It actually looked more like the fake-y plastic “silver” than anything else. So…..all I had to do was spray on a metal primer, let it dry (30 minutes should do it) then sprayed thin coats of tractor paint in red. Don’t hold the nozzle down, just tap the nozzle to let out short bursts of paint. Two or three coats of paint applied like this will give great coverage without the drips. Let paint dry between coats, + / – 30 minutes depending on the temperature.

    >Ok, LOVE THIS! But I HAVE to share something-When I saw tractor paint, I knew exactly what you were talking about! The red you used is the same color(but different brand) that my Husband used on his hotdog cart! It was called Safety Red by Rustoleum…originally when we were looking for paint for it, we saw tractor paints and I thought it was too funny! Sorry about the novel, lol!http://www.craigslistqueen.blogspot.com

    >I have a silver pitcher very similar to that one. It was a wedding gift. It has also sat in my attic for years b/c I don't have a use for it. I like the red. Maybe time to pull it out and give it a new look! Thanks for sharing at Someday Crafts!JenScissors & SPatulas
